07-31-2002, 8:11am - This is the second time I'm writing this update. I really need to get back to the stability and reliability of Linux. Anyway... on to the news and stuff... The screenshots of the miniRPG on this page are the last that anyone will ever see. I've cancelled the project, as it was really going nowhere, and not even fast. A lot of the code, and most of the tiles though, are being used in a different project: The Secret of Cooey DX. For those of you who don't remember the original SoC, it was a small RPG I created back in 1998. It was done in 16 colour EGA mode, and the music was ripped from various Squaresoft games. A lot of people asked for an update, and I thought it would be fun to make one... so, it became a reality. If you missed out the first time, you can download the original Secret of Cooey, over at the Darkness Ethereal site. So, I guess the question is, what am I going to do next with DarkDreams? ...well, there is the EGA RPG project, Legend of Grimtold. I do want to finish that, as I like the way it's coming along. Simple, cliche, 80s style console RPG gamplay... it can't get any better than that. ;) As for other projects... I have a few things lined up. Obviously, there is the Dark Crown remake... which, I'm not 100% certain if I want to do... but, we will see. Then, there is another project I've been thinking of doing... but, I won't say anything about it just yet. Once/if I get down to working on it, I'll trickle some information on here. 07-06-2002, 10:01am - It's been hot lately. Too bloody hot. As a result, I haven't really been able to get much of anything done. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't work in the kind of heat we've had here lately (about 35-40c). Anyway, it has finally died down. Hopefully, it'll stay this way for a bit, so I can get some stuff done on these projects of mine. Anyway, I've added a new section, the gallery (section is now gone). It's not what you think though. It has nothing to do with screenshots. Lately, I've grown fond of photo manipulation, and I've been playing around with some webcam shots of my wife. I'm happy with the way they've turned out, so, I've decided to post some of them here... with more to come, of various subjects. Have a look. Feedback is, as always, much appreciated.  One thing I have done lately, is introduced NPC text and walk routines into my mini RPG project. As you can see, our hero is now able to converse with 'Bob', the test NPC.  That, is a shot of the inside tileset. If you've played Mattress Warrior, the latest Darkness Ethereal game, then you may recognize the bookcases. Indeed, they are the same.
